Nothing has teased the launch of its first “native AI” device—a screenless product—while Carl Pei has outlined a vision for the evolution of consumer technology.

Nothing has announced plans to double its smartphone releases by 2027, following a more streamlined product lineup this year. The London-based tech company’s most recent launch was the Nothing Headphone (1) Pro, which debuted in select global markets in September. Now, the company has announced that another new product is coming this year. Nothing’s CEO revealed that the company is set to launch its first-ever AI-powered device. While the executive shared details regarding the device’s design, its name and product category remain undisclosed.
Nothing Plans to Launch Its First AI-Native Product in December
In a post on X, Nothing founder and CEO Carl Pei announced that the company will launch its first “AI-native product” in December. Pei revealed that the device will feature a screenless design. An image shared by the Nothing executive offers a glimpse of the upcoming AI hardware, showing a device with rounded corners and a textured frame. However, the image does not clarify the specific category to which this AI-native device belongs.
Nothing’s CEO also discussed the history and evolution of consumer technology. He noted that the entire industry is currently “searching” for its own “iPhone moment”—the next great revolution in consumer tech. Carl Pei emphasized that major companies are experimenting with new types of consumer devices—such as pendants, brooches, eyewear, and intelligent companions—all aimed at deeply integrating artificial intelligence into users’ lives. He stated that Nothing is in a “unique position” to create the kind of devices that “people of the future would have been excited about.”
However, Nothing’s CEO emphasized that this new, AI-native device is neither an app nor a product featuring a brand-new screen. Carl Pei positions the upcoming AI offering as a “tool”—one that “embodies the signature personality and thoughtful craftsmanship” characteristic of all Nothing devices.
A few weeks ago, a report indicated that Nothing is developing two new types of AI-powered smart glasses—one equipped with a camera, and the other without. One of these models reportedly functions as a pair of headphones, supporting music playback, audiobooks, phone calls, and interaction with an AI chatbot on a paired smartphone. The other model is said to offer similar capabilities while also featuring a camera and an integrated ChatGPT chatbot. However, it remains unclear whether the device showcased by Carl Pei is, in fact, one of these smart glasses.
